Vessels inspired by the beauty of the Isle of Skye.
Luminous and ethereal like the ocean after a storm. As the light fades, a deep charcoal emerges at the base, grounding the vessels in the ancient soil of the mountains - where land meets sea.
This bottle with pouring lip and tiny handle was thrown on the potter’s wheel using black stoneware clay. Once leather hard it was fettled and the tiny handles added. When bone dry, it was fired to 1060 degrees Centigrade.
Glazed with a combination of a two glazes I make myself. A rich glossy inky blue and a delicate opaque glaze which offers misty blues, gentle greys and subtle pinks - named after Glenbrittle beach at sunset. Where the two glazes overlap and meld together a third coral colour emerges.
Fired to 1240 degrees centigrade.
