My one-on-one sessions are designed around you, so before the class I will call/ email you and talk to you about your goals as a maker, what your skill level is and we will formulate the rest from there.

You will have a 2 hour practical lesson with me in my studio. This is suitable for total beginners to the more advanced hobby potter. This workshop is for you if:

• you are a very beginner and have never touched clay before.

• you are a hobby potter looking to grow your general skills.

• If there is something you would like to improve on or areas you are stuck e.g. you struggle with centering or can’t make a pot bigger than a thimble (we’ve all been there!)

• If there is a specific project or technique you’d like help with.

You will have my undivided attention, everything will be focused on you, where you are up to in your pottery journey and how I can help you further in your adventures with clay.

PRIVATE HAND-BUILDING MUG WORKSHOP - IN MY BEAUTIFUL GARDEN STUDIO IN RURAL SOMERSET

All the skills you learn can be transferred to your own home practice - with just a few simple tools, you can continue making mugs at home!

Come and spend a couple of blissful hours in my garden studio learning how to hand-build your very own ceramic mugs. No pottery wheel required - we’ll be using simple, satisfying hand-building techniques to create mugs that are full of character and completely unique to you. The mugs will then be fired and glazed and delivered to you a month or so later!

This 2-hour workshop is perfect if:

• You want a fun and creative way to spend a morning or afternoon.

• You’re a complete beginner curious about working with clay.

• You’ve tried pottery before and would like to learn more about hand-building techniques.

• You’d like to design and make mugs that are truly personal - add a name or date - whether for yourself or as a heartfelt gift.

• You simply want a mindful, hands-on escape in a beautiful setting.

You’ll learn how to roll and join slabs, add handles, and create decorative details so your mugs reflect your own style. I’ll be right there to guide you through each step, making sure you feel confident and inspired.

After the Workshop
Once your mugs are made, I’ll carefully dry, bisque fire, glaze, and glaze-fire them for you. This process usually takes around 4 -6 weeks (but can be up to 8 weeks depending on firing scheuldes). When they’re ready, you can either collect them from my studio or I can post them to you at no extra cost. You’ll be able to enjoy using your handmade mugs for years to come.

Once booked, I’ll be in touch to plan your session and make sure it’s tailored just for you.

• If you are a total beginner and have never touched clay before

• If there is something you would like to improve on or areas you are stuck e.g. you struggle with centering or can’t make a pot bigger than a thimble (I’ve been there!)

• A hobby potter looking to improve your general skills.

• This is particularly well suited if you have a specific project or technique you’d like help with. e.g. making a dinner set or set of mugs.

• If you crave a mindful couple of hours, in a beautiful setting, learning all about the beauty of pottery. Clay such a therapeutic medium.

You will have my undivided attention, everything will be focused on you, where you are up to in your pottery journey and how I can help you further in your adventures with clay. Normally students choose to space the lessons across a couple of days or weeks to give your work a chance to dry ready for trimming, adding handles etc.

2 hour session. My one-on-one sessions are especially tailored to the recipient no matter what level of potter they’re at.

All lessons are 2 hours and held in my studio in Carlingcott, Somerset. Includes all materials, firing and glazing of your work from a choice of two glaze (if applicable) once fired, I will post your work to you or you can collect it. To redeem the workshop voucher the recipient eails me with their name and the name of the person who gifted you with the voucher. I will reply to book them in. We will have a brief chat about your goals as a maker, what your skill level is and arrange a date and time for the lesson.
